MY REFLECTION ABOUT THE PHILOSOPHICAL MATERIALS STUDIED WITHIN WEEK 10

 

In this week, I learnt under scientific inquiry, test of a hypothesis, criteria of confirmation and acceptability and evaluating arguments during this week.

Under scientific inquiry, learnt about basic steps in testing hypothesis, modus tollens & modus ponens, induction in scientific inquiry and four stages in an ideal scientific inquiry.

Under test of a hypothesis, learnt about experimental tests and non-experimental tests, the difference between dependent and independent variable, auxiliary hypothesis and AD hoc hypothesis.

Under criteria of confirmation and acceptability, I learnt quantity, variety and precision of supporting evidence, confirmation by new test implication, theoretical support, acceptability of a hypothesis and probability of a hypothesis.

Under evaluating arguments, learnt about rules of rational argumentation, fallacies that violates rules of rational argumentation, appeal to pity, Bandwagon fallacy, fallacy of hasty generalization, the difference between causation and correlation and post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.

It can be concluded that I could improve my understanding on scientific inquiry, test of a hypothesis, criteria of confirmation and acceptability and evaluating arguments during this week.
