MY REFLECTION ABOUT THE PHILOSOPHICAL MATERIALS STUDIED WITHIN WEEK 05

Started this week learning about ethics, hedonism and argument forms.

Under ethics, I learnt that ethic can be good in theory but not in practice sometimes and ethic can do without religions sometimes. Furthermore, learnt that ethic is always not relative to the society where we live. Finally, learnt that ethic has been defined and explained in different point of views

Under hedonism, I learnt about instrumental good that lead our life towards happiness, self-esteem, self-respect and different models of good life. Moreover, learnt about personal authority, wellbeing, paradox of hedonism that is the practical difficulties encountered in the pursuit of pleasure, evil pleasure, false happiness, importance of autonomy, life’s trajectory, unhappiness, variety of good lives, motivation, personal interest, getting what we want and disappointment.

Under argument forms, I learnt about Modus Ponens, Invalid Modus Ponens, Modus Tollens and Hypothetical Syllogism, how a statement can be written in such argument form and how such argument forms are analyzed.

It can be concluded that I could enrich & expand my knowledge & understanding about ethics, hedonism and argument forms during this week.
